Martin in 1950 (NY Daily News)

In Billy Martin’s Major League debut at Fenway Park on April 18, 1950, he recorded 2 hits in a single inning.  The Yanks entered the top of 8th trailing the Red Sox10-4, but Martin opened the floodgates to a 9-run inning with a double to left field that plated Yogi Berra.  By the time Martin came to bat again the Bombers had an 11-10 edge and his single pushed the lead to 13-10, scoring Berra and Billy Johnson.  The Yanks would go on to a 15-10 victory thanks to 3 big RBIs from the rookie.
