1938 | The Yankee Clipper (Out of the Park Baseball)

Yankee magic pulsed through the Stadium on August 28, 1938.  In the first game of a doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians, Joe DiMaggio tied the American League record with 3 triples in a single game.  The Yanks needed every one of the Clipper’s 3 RBIs as they edged the Indians 8-7 with 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th.  14 other American Leaguers had accomplished the feat before DiMaggio, but in the 74 years since only 6 have been able to match it.

In the second game Monte Pearson tossed the first no-hitter in the history of Yankee Stadium, striking out 7 in a 13-0 victory.
