On August 8, 1914, in a 4-1 loss at Navin Field in Detroit, backup catcher Les Nunamaker threw out Tigers attempting to steal… in a single inning.  Nunamaker was the only 20th-century catcher to accomplish that feat, tying the Major League record set by Jocko Milligan of the Philadelphia Athletics on July 26, 1887.
