In the second game of the 1997 season, against his former club, Tino Martinez had one of the most memorable games of his celebrated Yankee career, launching 3 home runs in leading the Bombers to a 16-2 victory at the Kingdome.  “The Bamtino,” as John Sterling used to call him, came up in the 1st with Wade Boggs and Jorge Posada on base.  On the 3rd pitch he saw from Scott Sanders he smoked a ball to deep right field, giving the Yanks a 3-0 lead.  He came up again in the 3rd and with Bernie Williams on 1st again touched Sanders for a bomb to right.  Then, in the 5th, it took Tino just one pitch to see something he liked, crushing a 3rd shot to right off of the hapless Sanders.  Tino added a single in the 8th to improve to 4-for-5 on the day with 7 RBIs.
