Mickey Mantle | 3 HR | vs. Detroit Tigers | 5/13/1955

In the only 3-home run game of Mantle’s career he was again Detroit’s tormentor.  In a 5-2 Yankee victory, Mantle recorded every RBI and went 4 for 4 on the day.  His first shot came in the 1st inning with Andy Carey on base.  The Commerce Comet struck again in the 3rd after a Hank Bauer single, propelling the Bombers to a 3-0 lead on a single to centerfield.  Mantle again tagged Steve Gromek for a home run in the 5th.  In the 8th, after the Tigers slashed the deficit to 4-2, Mantle knocked his 3rd round-tripper of the day off of Bob Miller.
