Joe DiMaggio in an undated photo (90FeetofPerfection)

This is one of my favorite baseball photographs of all time.  One of the greatest hitters of all time is at the plate, effortlessly following through on his majestic stroke.  The sepia hue of the image makes it feel timeless, classic.  The 3 figures are still and quiet, yet look as though they may loose the shackles and begin to move again.  It’s a perfect day in May, or July, or October against… does it matter?  The edges are just muddled enough to cause you to wonder if it ever really happened, or if it is simply a dream.  Maybe someday, when I get to heaven, I’ll arrive in time to see the Yankee Clipper hit a ball into the left field stands and watch as a legion of angels fight for the ball amid a cloud of feathers.
